Tips for mature writers

I always had the rare privilege of living as a bridge between generations opposite, one because I inherited my brother's friends, it takes me 17 years, and other handheld because I won the friendship of the children of my friends (and even grandchildren!).

When I premiered the digit 2 of my life I had friends older than 10 or more years. By now, many of them left to live, although only some of them are dead. So I was moved to the new generations and have learned to not feel the youngest of the group, but the older brother. Or just old.

I enjoy, for example, to greet my former students of law, one of which, to my honor, is President of the Supreme Court of Justice. Invariably try to doctor, it is true that familiarity, and they, I invariably answer: "Hello, Ramon", which I like, but once this treatment was used as an excuse to doubt that I am lawyer, I am just 30 years ago as it was 30 that I published my first book and won my first literary award.

From childhood I have been disrespectful, so familiarity with those who should deal with more formality, but, thank God, they have accepted and are my friends. To that extent I know something of their lives and experiences.

With that confidence and without thought of hurting anyone, much less shoes to fill, I propose a few tips, perhaps because of the pile, I went on a dozen.

1. Open your eyes to new generations of writers. Transmítanles capture their experience and drives, interests, waves of them.

2. Avoid selecting ten novels based on a survey 30 years ago. Is not nothing remarkable happened again during this period?

3. Avoid the favor and political hatred. Stay away from power.

4. Gánense unintentionally, by pure authenticity and the recognition of society, not of power.

5. Glad to have readers and no official recognition. Above all, do not look for them.

6. Avoid the harsh eye of the cameras, which forgive not a gray hair, a wrinkle, a bald, one side of iguana.

7. Take refuge in the mystery of what they write. Let people play to see how they really are.

8. Give every day a shower of humility, a simple massage, brushing of humor, a toast of wine and love.

9. Flee from the administrative responsibilities and idle chats. Dedíquenle more time in solitude and trade.

10. Spare me morals and moralizing. You also were a roguish when young.

11. No hoarding! Den field and pages to new writers.

12. Learn to imagine a dignified death.
